Romantasy Book Subscription

It's okay but given the gorgeous editions I'm used to from Lilac Library's I'm a bit disappointed.

The book is amazing quality and just absolutely stunning!! Cannot wait to curl up and read it!

I was really looking forward to this subscription. I hoping because it’s the first book there will be trial and error. But I was really surprised that the alternative cover was on the back of the dust jacket, when originally stated it wasn’t. The trad book cover was on the front with all the embossing and foil. I flipped the dust jacket over but you can see the main regular cover through it and bc the alternative cover is just printed on the back, the black is gonna start to wrinkle and you’ll be able to see white, I already see it on the spine. I wish it was like other subs where the new Alternative dust jacket cover is the main dust jacket cover, front and center. And the trad is on the back (or honestly not even at all). That’s honestly why I pay for subs, to have something different not to have something I can already have from where else, cheaper. This was just verrryyy similar to the Waterstones edition minus the end paper art and almost cost double.
I do also feel awful for the people that ordered Book 1 and 2 of the Nyaxia series but will not have access to Book 3 bc they aren’t subscribers. If for any reason Book 3 eventually can become available to non subscribers, I am glad they allowed subscribers to have a free skip for this June pick and not be penalized.
Overall, like I said, I hopeful that future books will turn out better. But if this continues to just be a glorified Waterstones edition and continued regular traditional covers on the front, I’ll most likely cancel especially with them not being signed in any way because it’s just not worth the price to the US.

I was very excited for this book, but felt like it fell a little bit short. It was the same cover as the UK cover with similar edges, so it just didn’t feel as special as a special edition should. The quality was nice, but the alternative cover was severely lacking. The embossing was very visible from the other side making actually using the alternative cover not really an option.

I did like that they addressed skips and the whole Songbird and the Heart of Stone debacle. I felt like they took responsibility and gave an acceptable alternative.

All in all, it is a beautiful book, but not worth the amount of money, especially as a US subscriber.
